The end of the year marks a time to reflect on the year that was, and this is no different for us in the plastic manufacturing industry. Living “greener” is one thing that we’ve been encouraging throughout the years. Let us take a look at some small ways you can implement for a “greener” life at home and at work.
Turn your computers completely off at night.
When you turn off your computer when you go to sleep, not only do you save money, but you prevent tons of carbon dioxide from heating the atmosphere too.
Don’t pre-heat your oven.
This only applies when you are not baking, like if you are roasting vegetables and meat. Place your dish in the oven as soon as you turn the oven on. This will save you electricity and money, you really don’t need to preheat the oven.
Recycling does not have to be just about dragging a big sack of plastic bottles or tins to your nearest recycling plant. It can be a fun way to engage with your children as you make little DIY projects at home. You can make pot plants with old plastic bottles for example. This way you will be recycling bottles and also planting, which is a big plus. Alternatively, you can use smaller plastic bottles as stationary organisers. Paint them to look prettier and enjoy a more organised working space. Some plastic manufacturing plants and supermarkets even have recycling bins, just in case your time is too limited for DIY projects.
Plastic is the most fun material to recycle. Put the fun back into recycling with these cool ideas and change the way you do life.
